Head of Software Product & Portfolio Strategy

Oqton's mission is to make autonomous manufacturing accessible to companies of all sizes. Oqton has recently been acquired by 3D System and remains an independent provider of cloud based, automated manufacturing software, now expanded with powerful connected desktop solutions such as Geomagic, 3DXpert, 3DSprint, and Amphyon.

As VP of Software Product & Portfolio Strategy, you will be responsible for defining and managing an Oqton software portfolio strategy in collaboration with development and vertical/industry segment leaders. This includes desktop products like Geomagic, 3DXpert, 3DSprint, Amphyon, as well as cloud products for automated build preparation, MES, IOT, scheduling, … You will define and execute a software strategy to guide various advanced/smart manufacturing related topics such as additive manufacturing, machining, inspection, robotics, and AI based workflows. The various product teams will operate independently and collaboratively to make software strategy decisions to avoid redundancy and focus on profitable investments. You will leverage your knowledge of the manufacturing markets, extensive strategy experience and background in commercialization, awareness of opportunities and priorities of various industry segments to help the organization focus on key differentiating product investments. You have an excellent knowledge of the strategic and commercial side of running a subscription software businesses.

We are looking for people who have strong software manufacturing related strategy, commercialization, and product management experience, who can own the strategy of a full software portfolio comprised of multiple industry segments in the advanced manufacturing space. You will leverage your knowledge and experience to optimize an existing portfolio of software products, identify new growth areas, new technology, and emerging product/service opportunities to increase our competitiveness and maximize our returns on investments by optimizing our existing products/solutions and/or creating the next generation of products. You will assist in building and growing a best-in-class manufacturing software strategy and portfolio.

Job requirements

This role will work closely with Executive Leadership Team, Oqton Product Leaders, Technology/Development Leaders, and Industry/Segment Leaders. Our main team is based in Belgium so that is the preferred location, but remote is possible.


• BS or MS in Engineering preferred along with Software Business Experience. MBA preferred.

• 10-years of software strategy experience, especially for complex portfolios composed of multiple product lines with different levels of maturity.

• Deep expertise on software strategy and the commercialization of those strategies/products.

• Experience with Portfolio Strategy and understanding what our customers will build and monetize in 5-10 years

• Deep expertise in the manufacturing and design space, new software stacks and verticals to focus on manufacturing related software, including future new revenue streams such as subscription, SaaS, and PaaS models.

• Proven ability to find solutions to various problems (technical, organizational, resources etc.) working within a large, evolving, ambiguous, and multinational organization

• Experience with project, product, and resource management best practices
